The shape of the blade is "shinogi-zukuri," meaning this is the most common cross section shape. The blade measures 59.4 cm. in length. The curvature, measured on a straight line from the back of the blade ("mune") at the widest point to the tip ("kissaki"), is 12.0 mm.

The width at the root of the blade where it transitions into the handle ("ha-machi") is 29.0 mm. The width where the tip bevel begins ("yokote") is 18.5 mm. The thickness at the back of the blade, measured at the blade root ("ha-machi"), is 6.8 mm. The back edge of the blade is "iori," meaning that it has a back with two facets.

The grain of the folded metal from which the blade is constructed is "mokume," a surface grain pattern of small ovals and circles resembling the burl-grain in wood. The temper line ("hamon") down the length of the blade is straight, or "suguba". The handle, or "nakago" of the blade has been shortened ("suriage"), which may have removed the original "mei," the maker's name.
