WWII MEMORABILIA

Item Description:

WWII MEMORABILIA - Lead Paperweight, "Souvenir of Adolf Hitler's Yacht S.Y. "Ostwind", lead from the ballast keel, having an image of the sailing yacht and specifications, stamped '247' on the edge. 2" x 4 1/8" x 1/2". Good condition. Col. Harold Thomas Lentz, post-war military Governor of Bavaria, brought the yacht back to Maryland. She fell into decay, and was ultimately purchased in 1986 by a Jewish group headed by former Miami Beach commissioner Abe Resnick, a Lithuanian-American. They turned the yacht into an offshore reef for fish habitat, and dedicated it to the memory of the voyage of the SS St Louis - "Voyage of the Damned." The reef is named after the Ostwind.
