About The Artist:

William Adam is best know for his colorful, impressionistic paintings of the homes and gardens of Pacific Grove and Monterey, California. He was born in Tweedmouth, England, and studied in Paris, Glasgow, and Buenos Aires. He immigrated to Boston near the end of the 19th century, then moved to California in 1894. He was known as "Professor" Adam and taught art lessons at his cottage. He died in Pacific Grove in 1931. He exhibited at the Del Monte Art Gallery, 1907-12; the Berkeley Art Association in 1908; and the Sorosis Club in 1913. His paintings can be found in the Silverado Museum at St Helena, California, the Santa Cruz City Museum, the Shasta State Historical Monument and the City of Monterey Collection.
