About The Artist:

The Weiner Werkstatte was a community of artists, designers, and architects founded in 1903 in Vienna, Austria, who paved the way for 20th century modernist design. Members of the group included Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Josef Hoffmann, Dagobert Peche, Otto Prutscher, Koloman Moser, Ernst Lichtblau and Josef Frank. Rather than rejecting Art Nouveau, the binding in the Jugendstil is reflective of it. The binding shares some similarity to the the well known clock at the Art Institute in Chicago.

Karlsbad is where the Viennese aristocracy retreated for the summer.
