Literature:

Walasse Ting was a Chinese-American visual artist whose works often featured colourful paintings of nude women, flowers, as well as domestic animals such as cats and birds. Born in Shanghai in 1929, Ting lived in Hong Kong and Paris before moving to the United States in 1957. While in Paris, Ting was closely associated with the members of the avant-garde group, CoBrA. Eventually, his influences derived largely from the development of pop art and abstract expressionism in New York where he resided. In 1970, Ting was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship Award in the category of Drawing. Today, his works are in the permanent collection of various large institutions worldwide such as the Guggenheim Museum and Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, Tate Modern in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
