About The Artist:

Elkington & Co. was founded in Birmingham, England in the 1830s, and was one of the most successful silver-plating firms of the 19th century. They held several crucial patents for the electrical application of silver and gold to a base metal -- that is the process of electroplating. Many Royal families including Queen Victoria allowed Elkington to reproduce original works in the Royal household in electroplate. By the 1840s, Elkington also began to produce cutlery and supplied the Titanic and ships in the White Star Line, among other institutions.
