Tiffany Studios "Adam" Bronze Dore and Green Patinated Desk Clock, American, ca. 1914-1929

Tiffany Studios "Adam" Bronze Dore and Green Patinated Desk Clock, American, ca. 1914-1929

Lofty says:

“Tiffany Studios bronze desk articles came in around 20 different patterns and each pattern came with various finishes. Desk articles were always sold separately, not as pre-packaged sets. The “Adam” refers most likely to Robert Adam, the famous British 18th century neo-classical architect. Like Adam often did in his designs, the desk clock incorporates sunbursts, ribbon-tied floral swags, rosettes, guilloche, beaded borders and a striped ground. This timepiece would be handsome accessory on any executive’s desk.” - Ursula LeBaron

About The Artist:

The "Adam" pattern was created after the Neoclassical taste of the Georgian period British architect Robert Adam (1728-1792). The wealth of ornamentation in this pattern - festoons, elaborate bows of swirling ribbons, rosettes, shallow fluting, and dotted outlines - combined with a price point lower than more complex patterns like the Venetian, proved popular with clients desiring a sumptuous effect at a relatively affordable price.
