The Minotaure Surrealist Magazine, Paris, 1933-1939, Nine original issues published between 1933-1939

Product Description:

A collection of nine original issues out of the total of 13 published between 1933 to 1939

The Minotaure was a surrealist arts magazine published in Paris by Albert Skira and sponsored by Edward Jones. The magazine was published in thirteen total issues between 1933-1939. It was a lavish publication, featuring original artworks on its cover by artists like Pablo Picasso. Issues included for sale are #1,5,6,7,8,9,10 and one of the double volumes 12-13

Of the thirteen issues published by Albert Skira between 1933 and 1939, here are nine total contained in eight magazines. Of the eight magazines, the cover remains attached to only No. 5. The covers themselves are all present and for the most part in good shape. Five are still attached by their spines and two are detached. There is of course some soiling, scuffing, tattering and the odd stain. The interior pages are quite clean and have very little yellowing or foxing for their age. There are quite a few small art pieces that were meant to be taken out and framed

No. 1: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Spine attaches front and back boards but is tattered at the top and bottom. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 5: The cover is attached to the interior pages. Spine is tattered at the top and bottom. The back cover has a colorful stain of unknown origin. Interior pages are all present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 6: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Spine attaches front and back boards but is tattered at the bottom. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 7: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Front and back boards are detached from the spine. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 8: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Spine attaches front and back boards but is tattered at the top. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 9: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Spine attaches front and back boards and is only slightly tattered at the top. This cover perhaps because of the lack of color, shows much more soiling and yellowing. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape. This issue also seems to include the most of the detachable for framing pieces

No. 10: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Spine attaches front and back boards and is slightly tattered. Interior pages are still bound together, all pages present. Interior pages are in very good shape

No. 12-13: The cover is loose from the interior pages. Front and back boards are detached from the spine. Interior pages are still bound together, though most loosely of the lot in this one. All pages are present and are in very good shape. This is the double issue, so surprisingly there is not only a second cover inside but also a second backpage. This issue also contains quite a few of the removable pieces
