'A Spanish Good Friday' is one of the iconic images of the British Etching Revival, depicting the festival at the culmination of Passion Week. The traditional mourning procession proceeds through the streets of Ronda as the crowd carrying banners with the crucified Christ approaches. Shadows cast by dark figures in pointed canonical hats give an eerie tone to the composition.
