Item Description:

With ovoid fluted body on shallow pedestal, the pink ground richly embellished with raised gilt enamel flowers and cross-hatch designs, and with raised gilt enamel floral swags, peacock and ribbons, numbered 6163552 and with iron-red crest mark.

The Royal Crown Derby originated circa 1750, starting out as Derby Porcelain, named after the English town where it was based. In 1773, the name changed to Crown Derby and then Royal Crown Derby in 1890, when Queen Elizabeth granted them a Royal Warrant. One of the two oldest porcelain factories in the United Kingdom, they are known for their fine quality wares, both for the table and for ornamentation.

The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain started using this particular iron-red mark in 1891.
