PRESENTATION MILITARY OFFICER'S LONG GLASS - Brass and Brown Leather Three-Pull Long Glass engraved "Capt. Benj. H. Burrell, Roxbury, Mass. 1849". In the original brown leather case with cover and strap. 12" tube extends to 35" with a 1 3/8" objective, sliding covers intact on both lenses. No maker's mark. Good condition, wear to leather, light corrosion to brass. Burrell, after service in the Mexican-American War, was made Captain that year of Company D, Fifth Regiment Artillery, First Brigade, First Division of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia.
