About The Artist:

This runner was woven in the city of Tabriz in Northwest Iran. The patterning, color and construction point to the workshops known as Tabatabai. Tabatabai rugs were the predominant rug produced in Tabriz from the 1950s-1970s. They are sought after for their light hues, ornate designs and for their use of animals in the design. This particular example features four pairs of birds in the design.
