Paris on Ice. 1953.
Raymonde du Bief was an acclaimed figure skater who unfortunately got lost in the shadow of her younger sister's blockbuster ice skating career—Jacqueline du Bief won bronze in the 1952 Olympics, and was the 1952 World figure skating champion. Raymonde may not have had the award-winning resume, but was nevertheless a thoroughly skilled performer. Born in Paris in 1926, she began skating at eight, and turned professional by twelve. She performed unconventional acts, including dancing the fox trot on ice. One reviewer wrote, "[Not interested in] the classic skating, she created a personal style full of charm. Those who saw her number in tails and top hat, cane in hand, keep [it as] an unalterable memory." In 1953, she incorporated her own show, "Paris on Ice," promoted by this gestural and lively poster, designed by an artist we believe to be named Laumont.
