PAIR OF US INDEPENDENCE CENTENNIAL PRINTS - "Raising the Liberty Pole, Commemorative of 1776" and "The Day We Celebrate, Commemorative of 1876", both also marked "Dedicated to the American People, The Centenary of Independence", hand-colored engravings, after the paintings by Frederic A. Chapman (NY/CT, 1818-1891), engraved by John C. McRae, NY. In replica lemon gold molded frames, in French-lined mats, glazed. OS: 30 1/4" x 37 1/2", SS: 21" x 29", toned, not examined out of frame. Provenance on back regarding 1954 purchase at Holloway House in East Bloomfield, NY. Truly a great pair of American history engravings.
