Product Description:

Signed underfoot, of baluster form, with over and under-glazed polychrome decoration on white ground, depicting birds amidst flowering cherry tree branches and flowers with bamboo fence, the neck with painted gilt foliate band on red ground.

These vases are an early example of Kawamoto Masukichi's style. Later, he became famous for experimentation with glazes, especially in the development of cloisonné on porcelain vases.
