MCCLELLAND BARCLAY (MI/NY/CA, 1891-1943) - A Pair of Round Bronze and Silver Plaques, Art Deco Figures of Nude Women as Allegories, one kneeling with three peaches arching into her outreaching hand, the other kneeling with hands in hair, waves behind, a shell at her foot, both are signed on the edge. 8 3/4" diam. Scratches, scuffs. Barclay was in the Navy in WWII, then opened a successful studio and foundry in New York. He re-enlisted at the age of fifty in WWII, Unfortunately, Lt. Commander McClelland Barclay was reported missing in action in the Solomon Islands, when the LST he was on was torpedoed by the Japanese.
