About The Artist:

Louis Justin Laurent Icart was the oldest son of Jean and Elisabeth Icart and was born in Toulouse. He began drawing at an early age and was always interested in fashion. While he served in World War I, he drew in his spare time. Upon his return from the war, he made a name for himself with his paintings, drawings and prints, mostly aquatints and drypoints. By 1925, Icart was well-known and his work epitomized the style in Paris and New York City in the Art Deco period. His subjects are characterized mainly by their playfulness and sensuality.
