About The Artist:

Lee Godie was an Outsider Artist who lived homeless on the streets of Chicago, Illinois. She worked in a variety of media, including canvas, window shades, and photo-booth photography. Her work reveals a fascination with the golden age of the 1920s.

The term "Outsider Artist" was coined in the 1970s by the British art critic Roger Cardinal to describe artists living on the fringes of society. Most outsider artists are untrained, unaffected by social conventions and untouched by the machinations of the commercial art world.

Lee Godie's work has been exhibited internationally and is held by the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
