Large hammered sterling silver and parcel-gilt presentation punch bowl, Tiffany & Co., New York, NY, dated "1883", The interior with sprays of seaweed heightened with gilt, the body with applied fish and seaweed, the side inscribed, "Gracie, Bedouin/Match race/Oct 18th 1883/Course 26 Miles to Windward and return/from Sandy Hook./Won by/Bedouin, beating Gracie/some 15 minutes.", marked to underside.

This punch bowl documents the publicized victory of the cutterBedouin over the sloop Gracie on October 18, 1883 for the Bennett Cup in a race organized by the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club of Oyster Bay, New York. Covered in the New York Times , October 19, 1883, with the headline, "The Cutter Bedouin's Victory: The Gracie beaten nearly fifteen minutes in a forty- mile race," the match is also detailed in Frederick Schiller Cozzens, Yachts and Yachting (1887) p. 98.
