About The Artist:

British-born painter J. G. Brown relocated to New York in the 1850s to apprentice for at Brooklyn Glass Factory (where he met his wife, the daughter of the factory manager). His subject matter focused mainly on scenes of urban streets and domestic ladies. By the late 19th century, his paintings were highly popular, Prints of his work were reproduced in his lifetime.
