IMPORTANT BUDDHIST STONE RELIEF CARVING - Great Departure of Buddha, grey schist, Gandhara, 1-2nd Century. Kushan Empire, Peshwahar, which encompassed the Swat valley and the Potohar Plateau regions of Pakistan. Depicting the Buddha surrounded by eight followers, flanked by the distinctive scaled columns and checked panel of the region. On museum mount. 9 1/2" x 15 1/4" stone, 2" x 16" x 4" plinth. Very good condition, one head of follower gone.
