Item Description:

HARRISON BIRD BROWN (CA/ME, 1831-1915) - 'Ship Salvage in the Cove, Cape Elizabeth, Maine', oil on canvas, initialed 'HBB' lower right and dated '65, initialed on top of barrel, in period red walnut frame with gold fillet. SS: 22" x 34", OS: 28" x 40". Cleaned and repaired in 1988, one small repaired puncture. An early example of his work. Exhibited at the Colby College Museum exhibit "The Land and the Sea of Five Maine Artisits" in 1965, and included in the Oakhurst Dairy calendar in the late sixties.
