Georg Jensen Silver Flatware Service, Copenhagen, Denmark, mid-20th century, in the Acorn pattern

Product Description:

Comprising: 8 coffee spoons, 8 round soup spoons, 8 butter spreaders, 8 luncheon knives, 8 luncheon forks, 8 salad forks, 8 cocktail forks, 6 teaspoons, 1 jelly spoon, a pair of salad servers, a pair of serving spoons, a cake server, a serving fork and a sauce ladle, numbering 70 pieces in total.

"The Acorn Pattern", named after its design of a small acorn at the end of every utensil, was designed for the first time in 1915 by Johan Rohde, a silversmith for the Georg Jensen silversmith firm. Because this particular service was produced mid-twentieth century, it is part of a long tradition of "The Acorn" pattern, which is still produced by the Georg Jensen firm today and often replicated by many other silversmith firms.

Condition:

The condition is excellent, because it was never used. Most pieces are still in the original plastic sealed wrapping.

Provenance:

The owner purchased the service in France in 1958-9.
