About The Artist:

Étienne Prosper Berne-Bellecour was a military painter known for his images of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. He studied under French painters Émile Signol and François-Edouard Picot, and taught Eugene Barberiis. The artist also worked on pochades for musical productions, including 'Mechanical Tribute' with Jean-Georges Vibert, performed at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal in 1872.
