About The Artist:

Erté was a Russian/French costume designer and illustrator known for his flamboyant Art Deco style designs for operas, dramatic productions and ballet, as well as posters, sculptures, and prints. His fashion illustrations depicted stylized models in mannered poses draped in luxurious jewels, feathers, and soft, flowing materials. He worked for the Foiles-Bergere in Paris from 1919-1930, then began working for American musical reviews including the Ziegfield Follies. The artist began producing prints and sculptures in the 1960s. His byname, Erté, derives from the French pronunciation of his initials, R.T.
