Item Description:

ENGLISH CREAMWARE HAND-PAINTED BIBLICAL CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF TWO, each having royal shaped rim, featuring polychrome images depicting religious scenes, one having a man beating a donkey with an angel intervening and one featuring Abraham beginning to sacrifice Isaac with an angel reaching down from a cloud above, having "Gen: 22-1-33" hand-brushed below. Each impressed "TURNER/3". William and John Turner, Lane End, England. Second half 18th century.

Condition:

Sacrifice example undamaged, except each having some wear to rim and minor expected short scattered scratches; donkey example having a chip and flake to rim. Sacrifice example with glazed over rim flake, as made.
