Item Description:

An English Close Helmet, ca. 1560,

One piece skull with roped comb, the junction with the skull defined by two incised lines. Visor of fine form with single broad ocular defined by a line border. The upper bevor with slightly convex leading edge in the English taste ('Ship Prow form') with recessed border. Made in the Greenwich workshop, which was established by Henry VIII and was manned by Continental, primarily German, armorers.
