EARLY ROMAN AMPHORA IN STAND - Dressel 1B Wine Amphora, mid 2nd - late 1st century B.C. Larger in size, this version was produced in Campania, Lazio and Etruria between 70 B.C. and the early years of the Augustan Age. A great number of these amphorae have been found in Gaul, Britain and along the limes of the river Rhine. This appears to be a shipwreck find, is encrusted, missing one handle. 30" tall, in custom walnut stand.
