Item Description:

EARLY ENGLISH CHEST - William and Mary Oak Coffer, circa 1680, having a molded edge lid with original heavy snipe hinges, the face having deep bas relief carved shell and vine blossom carvings, chip carved stiles with trefoil ends, small scrolled brackets, shallow relief carved and incised end panels having a single rosette, lock has been removed, but the original iron escutcheon remains, 26 1/2" x 47" x 21". Till removed from interior, lid has shrinkage crack and some replaced portions, large shrinkage cracks to side and front panels, wormage and loss to feet.
