EARLY AMERICAN CASED STUDENT MICROSCOPE - Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Serial No. 3296 Pat. Oct. 3, 1876, The Harvard Model Microscope with inclination, circa 1885. Signed on stage and is marked on limb with the 1876 patent date. The serial number is stamped on the wood case, which is complete with key, containing two objectives. Coarse focusing is by push-tube, fine focus micrometer screw, which operates the patented B&L mechanism. The substage has a Wale type iris diaphragm, adjustable mirror with plane and concave glasses. 11 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 6 1/2" case. Good condition.
