About The Artist:

Doug and Mike Starn are known for creating large, heavily manipulated photographs textured with layered pigments and other techniques to modify the photo surface. This smaller size portrait is an earlier experiment for their larger works.

The artists first received international attention at the 1987 Whitney Biennial, and for more than 20 years they were primarily known for their work with conceptual photography. They often explore the themes of chaos, interconnection and interdependence. Today, their work combines traditionally separate disciplines such as photography, sculpture, and architecture.
