About The Artist:

DadŽérian is an abstract painter closely associated with the ƒÉcole de Paris. Born in Lebanon and of Armenian descent, DadéŽrian studied in Cyprus before enrolling in the ƒÉcole des Beaux-Arts, Paris.

His work has been exhibited extensively in European galleries since the 1950s. DadéŽrian's work is also represented in major private and public collections, including MusŽée d'Art Moderne, Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, and Fundaç㍋o Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon. He currently works and live in Paris.

This painting is typical of DadŽérian's early and sought after style. Dadérian creates a foundation for the work by layering expressive dabs and strokes of paint in yellow, red, green, orange, black, and blues. This gestural patchwork of sorts is then covered by a thick and homogeneous layer of paint. The central mass, left in reserve, becomes the focus of the work and seems to simultaneously float and emerge from the blue abyss. The result is akin to a rich textile.
