Condition:

About The Artist:

Surrealist artist David Hare (American, 1917-1992) is known for his abstract figurative paintings and sculpture. In 1948 Hare became a founding member of the Subjects of the Artist School in New York, along with Mark Rothko, William Baziotes and Robert Motherwell. Hare continued to be closely associated with influential artists and thinkers throughout the late 1940s and 1950s, including Jean-Paul Sartre, Balthus, Alberto Giacometti, and Pablo Picasso among his friends and acquaintances.
The "Cronus" series was the subject of a solo exhibition at The Guggenheim Museum, New York, in 1977.
