Item Description:

Signed and dated lower left, depicting a steamship with billowing dark steam and a bridge in the background, a couple of other marine vessels are to the right and left of the central steamboat with greenish blue waves in the foreground, a light blue sky with a large white cloud to the right opposes the brown smoke from the ship, the back of the frame with old handwritten label with artist and title, framed

About The Artist:

Cornelilus Wagner was a German painter of landscapes, marine scenes and figures. A member of the Düsseldorf school, he made more than 100 oil paintings in oil, watercolor and gouache. He did numerous works for public buildings, including painting in the station hall in Duisburg (1935). His works are in museums in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Koblenz and Oldham (England) and the German Maritime Museum in Bremen.
