COMMEMORATIVE PORTRAIT - Three-Quarter Length Portrait of Alexander Hamilton, oil on canvas, laid to panel, unsigned, circa 1805. The first Secretary of the Treasury, in his favored brown suit, stands papers in his left hand, pointing to a document on a table inscribed "National Debt", his head turned left, housed in a later gold gesso frame, OS: 16" x 14", SS: 11 1/4" x 9 1/4". Good condition. Hamilton was killed July 10th, 1804, in his famous duel with Aaron Burr.
