About The Artist:

Maxwell Coburn Whitmore, Jr., "Coby Whitmore" (1913-1988) was an American magazine illustrator and painter. He apprenticed for a short time in Chicago before joining the Cooper Studio in New York in 1943. At Cooper, he illustrated works for The Saturday Evening Post, McCall's, Ladies Home Journal, and Good Housekeeping with postwar images of the ideal American family centered around pretty, middle-class, female consumers living happily in new kitchens, new houses, driving new cars, living with handsome husbands, and adorable children. Whitmore was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1978.
