Product Description:

The high polished jade of an overall grayish celadon color, with areas of "sugar" to the mane, tail, and haunches; late Qing Dynasty, last quarter of the 19th century. The lion of Buddha (fo shi), commonly called a foo dog or foo lion in the West, is portrayed mid stride, head turned, mouth open. His lush mane flows gracefully behind him, his tripartite tail curled in excitement. A single horn protrudes form the top of his head. A blanket has been draped over his back, on which he supports an archaistic hu vessel with two loose ring dragon handles. The separately carved and detachable cover with a gracefully carved bat as the finial.

Dimensions:

Height 5.25 in. x Width 4.75 in. x Depth 2.5 in.
