First trade edition. 46 pp, small folio (13 by 10 inches approx.), with 20 vivid and sublime color plate illustrations by Rickman, the foremost British artist of waterfowl in his day. Chapters on grouse and black game, partridges and quail, pheasant, wild turkey, woodcock and snipe, geese and ducks, shooting in the U.K. and America. Some emphasis in the text on the preservation of species at time that toll of overhunting had become apparent. Some minor foxing front page only , library label. Some wear to dust jacket. Book condition is good. Weight 2 pds 6 oz. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of American Wildlife Artist and Veterinarian Don "Doc" Shoffstall. He had also illustrated several books for Amwell Press during his career and was a veterinarian by profession. Approximate Retail Value is Between: $125 - $225
