AUSTRIAN MEDICAL INSTRUMENT - Josef Leiter (1830-1892) Cystoscope, Examining Telescope nr. 5258; Catheterizing Telescope nr. 5272; Sheath nr. 18550, Leiter's Lamp Type x47 (includes extras), in fitted birch case, 1 3/4" x 14" x 6", very good condition. Viennese Dr. Maximilkain Nitze specialized in research of kidney disorders. Along with Viennese instrument maker Joseph Leiter (1830–1892), he is credited with the invention of the modern cystoscope. The Nitze–Leiter cystoscope was first publicly demonstrated in 1879. This version dates to the 1920s.
