ANDRE KERTESZ (Hungary/NY, 1894-1985) - Twelve Original Gelatin Silver Photographs, interiors and exteriors of "Horse Haven", the historic Thomas Hastings residence in Aiken, South Carolina, built from his design, for his wife Helen Benedict Hastings, who was the best-known woman rider of the Belle Epoch in America. Thomas Hastings (1860-1929), was a great New York City architect, who worked with John Mervin Carrere to design many famous Beaux-Arts buildings, including the New York Public Library, Henry Clay Frick House, Standard Oil Building, Arlington Ampitheatre, Woolsey Hall at Yale, Ponce de Leon Hotel in St. Augustine, Florida, and many others. These photos, which are all backstamped, are in matching black metal box frames, matted and double glazed. They range in size from 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" to 10 1/2" to 13 1/2" in 10 3/4" x 12 3/4" to 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" frames. Fine condition.
