(2 PCS) 18TH C. CONNECTICUT NEEDLEWORK - Dated Crewelwork on Linen, both with attached cards identifying the maker as Miss Sarah Douglas, later the wife of Dr. Elisha Perkins (1741-1799) of Plainfield, Conn., known for his quack medicine "Perkins Patent Tractors" that were all the rage in the 1790's. Preserved by her Great-Great-Granddaughter Miss Charlotte Soutter Perkins. Includes a Tablecloth marked "Susan Douglas, November 23, 1762", featuring flowering bushes, grapevine, thistle, roses, birds, 60" x 55", water stained, soiled, a few burn holes; PLUS Young Girl's Crinoline Skirt Trim with a linear narrative of animals in a landscape with flowers, trees, birds and butterflies, 7" x 100" continuous loop, water stained, minor losses.
