Item Description:

An extremely rare example of a Deer by Marcus Charles Illions (1871–1949), Coney Island, NY, (a rare piece by any carver). Restored Carved Wood Carousel Figure of Deer with real antlers, in polychrome enamel paint, on black rolling stand with pipe mount. 51" tall, 72" long, 27" deep at antlers. Fine condition.

Provenance:

This was purchased in the massive and important wood carvings/carousel auction by Guerney's in 1989. Piece was professionally restored in the early 1990s by the premier restoration gallery on the West Coast. It has been in a private collection since then. This piece came from Saucer's KiddieLand in Indiana (USA).
