Valetta Swann

Valetta Swann (1904-1973), by name of Anna Valetta Hayman-Joyce, was an English-born painter known for her depictions of the rural and indigenous life in Mexico and the Southwest United States. She began her art career in Europe and then came to United States with her husband, whose work took him to Mexico. After his death in 1942, she permanently moved to Mexico City, where she exhibited her works at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 1945.  The artist  was a member of Mexico's Saln de la Plstica Mexicana. Over her career, she had some 50 exhibitions of her work in Mexico, the United States, and Europe.
