Belles Dames en Grande Toillette, Serie de Decoupages. Text by Aristide Fabre, illustrations by JOB. Hachette & Cie, Paris. Hardcover. 12 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches. 62 pages alternating text with color cut-outs backed blank, featuring costumes through the ages. No date but circa 1900.

Condition:

Fair, with pages toned and brittle, pages detached from binding and chipped along edges, cut-outs on pages 5 and 46 carefully cut and fixed to a stiff backing, all others intact, page 19 has a 1-inch tear at bottom not affecting text, covers worn around edges with some stains, be advised that all lots in this sale will exhibit some degree of wear due to age and/or handling

Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925
