Roberto Márquez (b. 1959), born in Mexico City, is contemporary artist known for his fantasy and surrealism-animal and figure painting. The artist grew up in Guadalajara, where he studied architecture at Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente and sculpture at the Universidad de Guadalajara. In 1983, the artist dedicated himself to painting and had his first solo exhibition in Mexico City in 1984. In 1990, he moved to the New York area, where he currently lives and works.He has had several museum solo shows, including at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey, the Tucson Museum of Art, the Museo de las Artes de Guadalajara, and the Museo de Hacienda.
