Robert Wyland (b. 1956) is an American marine life artist and pioneer of the environmental art movement. He is known for his marine life paintings, sculptures, photography, and his life sizeWhaling Wall murals. Born in Detroit, he attended the Center for Creative Studies there and opened the first Wyland Studio Gallery in 1978 in Laguna Beach, California. Throughout his career, he has explored various mediums, including painting in oils and watercolors, sculpting in bronze and Lucite, creating fine art nature photographs, and expressionist abstracts that incorporate seawater.His work captures whales, dolphins, sea turtles, manatee, and reef life in their natural habitat. His paintings and sculptures are characterized by their vivid colors and realistic detailing.
