Robert Longo (b. 1953) is an American sculptor, painter, and draftsmen whose drawings and sculptural works incorporate pop culture and Fine Art.He is best known for his detailed Photorealist drawings of jumping figures. His monochrome series Men in the City, drawn in charcoal, graphite, and ink, renders businessmen and women in suspended animation and brought him critical acclaim in the early 1980s. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied sculpture at the State University College in Buffalo, New York. His work has been included in the Whitney Biennial in New York, documenta in Kassel, and the Venice Biennale, among many other exhibitions. The artist lives and works in New York, New York.
