Miguel Martinez (b. 1951) is an American painter who is known for his modernist oil pastel paintings of women. His series of large faces of women is characterized by the artists signature enlarged and stylized eyes. The artist was born and has lived in Taos, New Mexico and spent fives years working with several prominent New Mexico artists including RC Gorman, Ray Vinella, and Frank Howell. He was also inspired by Mexican artists Rivera and Zuniga early on for their portrayal of the common folk, and he appreciated Modigliani’s works of human emotions.
