Mark Peiser

Mark Peiser (b. 1938) is an American studio glass pioneer known for his exploration of the expressive qualities of glass and glassmaking techniques.  Born in Chicago, he studied at Illinois Institute of Technology.  Since 1967, he has created a series of works that are greatly different from one another.  His Paperweight Vases of the 1970s and early 1980s depict trees and domestic interiors in hot-applied cane drawings. His other bodies of work include The Opaque Image Vessels, The Innerspace Series, The Forms of Consciousness and most recently The Cold Stream Cast Vessels. He is a founder of the Glass Art Society, and his work is included in many public and private collections throughout the world.
