Louise Bourgeois

Louise Bourgeois (1911 – 2010) was a French-American artist. She is best known for Best known for her large-scale sculptures and installation art, but she was also a prolific painter and printmaker.  While she was never formally associated with any art movement, her work shares a great deal thematically and stylistically with that of the Surrealist and Feminist Movements as well as the Abstract Expressionists. During the later years of her life, Louise Bourgeois used her art as a means of speaking up for the LGBT community.
